Debate: Royal Academy – ‘Counting the Costs of the Housing Crisis’

Alison Brooks debated ‘The Costs of the Housing Crisis’ with Campbell Robb, Chief Executive of Shelter, Polly Toynbee of The Guardian, Tony Travers of LSE, and Sarah Gaventa, Interim Director of the Architecture Foundation.

The idea behind this event was to offer a fresh view on precisely what we mean by ‘housing crisis’, its extent and importantly its detrimental effects for individuals and society. We want to assess the nature and implications of these effects – whether social, economic, psychological or environmental – and also on the role of the architect.
